Microsoft Excel has a function to calculate the numbers of days between two dates (DATEDIF), but there is no specific function to compute the hours and minutes between two times. Instead, you simply take the difference. But there are some issues to deal with. Let’s look at an example.
The problem here is the format of the result. Here 0.055555556 refers to the fraction of a day, but very few reader can decode that. To solve that problem, one needs to formate the cell to h:mm format. To do that, right click and select “Format cells” or press Ctrl+1, and choose “Custom”, and then type h:mm, as shown below.
